Similar to some of Mercedes-Benz’s previous launches in India, the AMG version of the EQS will be available before the standard version, which is expected to be available around October of this year. The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ keeps everything the EQS has to offer but adds a faster electric powertrain that can produce up to 751 bhp and 1,020 Nm of torque with launch control. The car also has all-wheel drive because it has two motors. While most of the good parts remain the same, the AMG has a slightly higher drag coefficient (0.23) than the standard EQS (0.20), which is due to its sportier wheels, which aren’t as aerodynamic. Other AMG components also enhance the EQS’s cabin. In many of our stories, we went into great detail about the EQS. Now let’s see how the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+’s price compares to that of its rivals.

Audi RS e-tron GT

The Audi RS e-Tron GT is Audi’s spiritual successor to the R8 sports car, and it certainly appears to be one. The car is built on the same foundation as other EVs from the Volkswagen Group, like the Porsche Taycan. The sports car won Sports Car of the Year at the 2022 carandbike Awards, making it the happiest vehicle on the road. costing Rs. The Audi RS e-tron GT is the most affordable of the lot, costing 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). Although it lacks luxury and specifications, it is still a great option for those looking for an electric sports sedan. It costs 56 lakhs less than the EQS.

The 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers the e-tron GT and the Porsche Taycan is shared by both vehicles. However, in contrast to the standard GT, which produces 522 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque, the RS produces 637 horsepower and 830 lb-ft of torque. The car has two synchronous motors, one for each front and rear axle, which allows it to have Quattro all-wheel drive as well. The RS can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.3 seconds and can only go up to 250 kmph.

Porsche Taycan Turbo S

The World Luxury Car and World Performance Car awards from the 2023 World Car Awards are proof that the Porsche Taycan is universally acknowledged as a driver’s EV. The top-of-the-line model is the Taycan Turbo S, and despite the fact that it isn’t equipped with a turbocharger for obvious reasons, the moniker Turbo still denotes the incredible amount of performance it is capable of. The AMG EQS and Turbo S both produce 751 horsepower, but the Turbo S produces even more torque—1,050 Nm as opposed to the EQS’s 1,020 Nm. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S costs Rs. 2.34 crore (Ex-showroom), and although being faster than the EQS, it has the shortest range of the three EVs present and lacks the luxury of the vehicles wearing the three-pointed star, which accounts for the lower price.

Engine and Performance

The Taycan Turbo S has the most performance and is also the fastest of the three sedans’ dual-motor AWD powertrains, as is to be expected. In India, Mercedes makes the Dynamic Package standard on the AMG EQS 53. On overboost, its peak output is comparable to that of the Turbo S, but its larger battery and larger size hinder its overall performance.

Although the Audi RS e-tron GT is no slouch, it lags behind these two in terms of power and torque by more than 100 psi. The lighter Audi is still faster than the 2.6-ton AMG EQS 53 to 100 kmph despite having a weight of around 2400 kg.

Range and Charging

In this situation, the EQS 53’s larger battery really comes through because the Mercedes delivers a lot longer range than the Audi and the Porsche. With comparable performance, it offers a WLTP-rated range that is 166 km longer than the Taycan Turbo S’s. The RS e-tron GT, on the other hand, is about 100 km slower than the Mercedes-AMG electric car despite having a comparably lesser performance.
